St. Louis, MO, USA Webster University Choral Society Desmond E. Lee Concert Hall, Community Music School of Webster University, Trinity at Delmar (enter on Trinity), University City, Missouri. Concert began at 8:46 AM. The core choir for the performance were members of the Webster University Choral Society, which sponsors a Summer Sing series during the summer. This was similar to a Summer Sing, in that there are no rehearsals for the performance.
Accompanist: Joe Neske, piano. Soloists: Kathryn Stieler, soprano; David Stephens, alto; Arie Perry, tenor; David Berger, bass. The Webster University Music Department Rolling Requiem event was open to singers who already know the Mozart and listeners throughout the St. Louis area.
"Thanks so much for offering us participation in the Requiem. One of my
husband's scientific colleagues at Columbia University lost his wife in the
World Trade Center. She was an attorney with one of the businesses, and
left behind a 4-year-old daughter. I came in particular to sing on her
behalf. I don't know how much sense you could obtain of the auditorium
this morning while you were conducting us, as it was behind you, but just
when we got to the "lux aeterna" part the sun had moved to the point where
it came through the stained glass windows and lit up the room beautifully.
One of the other singers gave me her program as there were no spares, and
I plan to send it to our colleague whose wife was killed. - Nancy L. Baenziger, Ph.D.
