"This morning I was part of a choir that sang Mozart's Requiem in a medium
sized Congregational church in Jamaica Plain. This was part of a worldwide
choral commemoration of 9/11 where choirs in every time zone sang this
piece to honor those lost at exactly 8:46 AM. There were about 110 singers
and another twenty in the orchestra. The church building reminded me a lot
of my church in Milton - - big clear glass windows letting light pour into
a spacious sanctuary painted in light pastels. The crowd filled the hall
and the balcony, lined the back walls, filled the doorways of the
vestibule and spilled out onto the lawn. All the musicians gave their
best. The music evoked the emotions of fear, sadness, and anxiety through
its several movements, and finally in the last movement the voices and
instruments went from a complex fugue that crescendoed to a firm final
unison note that shook the risers, letting us all know the tremendous power
of many people coming together as one." - Michael Maholchic
Framingham, MA, USA Bose Early Music Singers The Bose chorus, accompanied by Beth Adelman and Beth Cohen on piano, sang movements from the Requiem including the slow meditative piece, Lacrymosa, a forceful Dies Irae, Kyrie and Sanctus; and a separate motet, Ave Verum Corpus. The group also had a few sing-along pieces including "America." A kaddish was performed as well.
"It only seems fitting that Bose Corp., which designs speakers that help deliver the emotional impact of music, would sing the Requiem to express the emotion of marking the first anniversary of the tragedy."
"During times of sadness, singing is a deep expression of emotion," - Glen Campbell, leader of the Bose Rolling Requiem Singers.

"I had the pleasure of singing in the Rolling Requim program in Newburyport,
MA last night at 8:46 pm. What a fantastic experience and memorable way to
honor our sheroes of 9/11.
Frances Burmeister, brand new to the area, pulled together a chorus of over
100 voices and soloists that the Boston Symphony would have envied! Her
sense of humor and patience created a work that enriched our community and
made us feel part of a world commemoration. Thank you so very much for your
inspiration. It was an honor to participate." -Nancy Lemcke
